My First Godot Game

Hi everyone reading this post!

First of all, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each one of you who took the time to play Fruity Fall!

Fruity Fall marks a significant milestone for me—it's my very first game, and the journey from concept to completion has been nothing short of exhilarating. It all started on March 1st when I stumbled upon GDquest's tutorial "Your First 2D GAME From Zero with GODOT 4!" The tutorial provided the perfect springboard for my aspirations, and after completing it, I was eager to test my newfound skills and creativity.

With the tutorial under my belt, I began exploring various game jams, drawing inspiration from the vibrant devlog community on platforms like YouTube. When I came across the April Fools' Day Jam 2024, the theme "Fall" and the challenge to fool players in any way resonated with me. I knew I had to seize this opportunity to unleash my creativity.

Initially, I envisioned a game set in the midst of autumn, but given the time constraints of my first endeavor, I opted for a more manageable concept—falling fruit. Thus, Fruity Fall was born. In this game, players must skillfully catch fruit to score points while avoiding deceptive imposters lurking amidst the cascade of fruit.

The journey of bringing Fruity Fall to life has been a thrilling ride. From playtesting the initial version with just two types of fruit (an apple and a rotten apple) to expanding the roster to include seven different fruits and a falling heart to replenish health, every step has been filled with excitement and learning.

While I'm immensely proud of what Fruity Fall has become, I'm also aware of its potential for further growth. Ideas for adding particles, introducing new fruits, and enhancing gameplay mechanics swirl in my mind, but for now, I'm content with what I've achieved already.

Thank you for being a part of this journey, and I eagerly await your feedback.

Thank you for your support and happy gaming!
